We were just arriving to Waterton Lakes national park in Alberta, Canada for a camping trip. We were scouting the area for some photo spots and i found this spot and right as I was going to start shooting a group of birds flew right through my frame, which in my opinion gives the photo so much more character.

Days like this hardly ever happen in this notoriously windy area. What can I say I went for a paddle and was blessed with this reflection.

Wildlife in Fish Creek Provincial Park: Shaws Meadow, Canada

On a fine November day, an outing with my 4 year old son was coming to a close when a cyclist stopped me. My son was dragging and ready to go home. The owl was probably gone by now. But I couldn’t leave. So I carried him. And my gear. And we raced down the path, my legs and arms burning, my rig clattering around. We almost gave up. And then there he was. Unbothered, regal. Staring down at us. It was an enchanted moment.

Mountain range in Bow Valley Provincial Park - Kananaskis Country, Canada

190 km from Castle Wildland Provincial Park

I’m a born and raised Albertan, and always been active in one respect or another - taking advantage of our mountains for Skiing, camping and casual hikes over the years. I finally came to realize that I’d never completed a summit on any mountains worth noting, and so I decided along with 3 other friends that this mountain would be my first. It was quite a challenge, but as you can see the views were amazing! It was well worth the effort, and I an experience I’ll never forget. Mt Sparrowhawk’s summit sits at around 10,250ft (approx).

Highland in Ha Ling Peak, Canada

206 km from Castle Wildland Provincial Park

We decided to tackle the steep trail to Ha Ling Peak in an attempt to catch the sunrise. The entire ascent was on one side of the mountain which was part of a valley of peaks. The trees shrouded any view and there wasn’t much to see even after we had past the treeline. The last few hundred meters were filled with scree and as we finally reached the peak, this was the first thing we saw and it all immediately became worth it.

Living in Calgary, AB we are so close to one of the most amazing places on earth, the Rocky Mountains. We don’t nearly make it out there as often as we’d like but when we do, we love to explore new places. being in nature truly is rejuvenating and Canmore is a great day trip for us to escape.

We were driving through Canmore, Alberta, on our way to Banff National Park. I was overwhelmed by the number of mountains surrounding us; it was the first time I had seen such natural gigantism right in front of me. With the clouds being scattered here and there, and speeding down a high way, it was very difficult to capture the beauty I was seeing with my own eyes through my camera. But as the clouds broke apart over, one particular mountain’s rocky slope and dense tree-covering were illuminated, and I knew that this was the mountain that was worth a quick stop.

I was going on this trip up to Calgary and have always heard about the amazing views and beauty of Banff National Forest. When I arrived, it was way more than I could have expected. The views were breathtaking and this photo doesn’t even do a justice to what you will witness. This was in October and it is the perfect time to go. Not too cold and there are not too many people visiting the park, so makes for some epic landscapes. I highly recommend this place so that you can take in the beauty for yourself!

We had just finished up our day out in the wilderness of banff, and we were driving back into town. traffic slowed a bit, and we wondered what was going on. As we seemed to get close to what was causing the delay, I happened to look out my window and see this beautiful buck casually grazing. Thankfully my camera was sitting on my lap, and while we were sitting there, I was able to snap this picture.

It was coming on the tail end of our North American road trip. Alberta was the final destination after driving up the Pacific Coast. As soon as we crossed from British Columbia into Alberta, this mother Grizzly and her cub were eating flowers beside the road. I had just bought a super zoom specifically for this trip and I’m so thankful I did. We pulled over on the other side of the road and we were dead silent - Knowing how bears can be. My first time seeing a Grizzly and my first time in Alberta.

I live in Alberta, Canada and Banff is a fairly close drive that takes about an hour from where I live. Banff is one of my favorite places to take photos since I go on many hikes in the area. This image of the mountain with the forest in front was on of those hikes during the summer.
